Transformational Talks
My keynote presentations are deeply connecting and inspiring. My honesty and willingness to share my own fallibility resonates with all and leads to a superbly powerful message.
I have delivered talks over many years, too many to mention here but here are a few
Changing your mindset
This talk was not just about listening but about active engagement. The audience were entrepreneurs, some start-up, some established and were encouraged to participate and have fun while learning that they are not alone in having challenges. Patricia shared stories of her own many challenges but that her biggest challenge had given her the most strength. She was friendly and engaging, using humour to connect with her audience. She drew from her own experiences, how she overcame obstacles, how to master your thoughts, learn that you have choices and never lose sight of your vision.
Key objectives:
- Know how your thoughts affect your actions, know you have choices, you can turn challenges into opportunities.
- Challenge self-limiting beliefs, ditch the labels of past conditioning and self-doubt and be your own authentic self.
‘All about coping!’
The audience for this keynote address was an association of business women. Inspired by her book ‘7 Attributes for Success: Inner Success and Happiness’ Patricia used tangible cards based on the 7 attributes to engage and inspire the audience to think about the link between the attributes, each individual and the association. Asking questions such as what are their own and the association’s aims and objectives and their alignment.
Key objectives:
- Engage audience (where appropriate) in interactive activities and thought-provoking discussions to deepen understanding of challenges faced whether in business or life.
- Learn how to face and manage challenges in business or life.
- Inspire the audience to be more positive and resilient.
What makes good leaders great?
Business leaders contacted Patricia to give a talk on this topic having been inspired by her interview on radio.
Patricia used her knowledge and expertise on the subject, having authored an academic book on ‘Strategic Leadership’. However, rather than a ‘dry’ talk from an academic perspective, Patricia used her friendly, engaging style, sharing stories of her experience as a leader and in her mentoring role to different types of leaders. She challenged the audience to think about themselves, assume they are going through challenging times, and choose from two lists (A and B) as to what type of leader they would choose. The exercise led to a lively discussion and interaction with the audience.
Key objectives
- Learn about different types of leaders.
- Understand different approaches to leadership.
- Knowing what type of leader (strategic thinker) you are.
Burns Supper – Reply to the ‘toast to the lassies’
Having heard rave reviews of Patricia’s talks she was invited by The Caledonian Club, Belgravia, London to respond to the ‘toast to the lassies’ at their Burns Supper event.
Although this is a formal event it required a talk that not only engaged and inspired the audience but had them roaring with laughter. This is something Patricia does well as she was for a while a ‘stand-up’ comedian and if you have managed to survive a ‘Glasgow’ crowd as a comedian then you can provide an entertaining talk in any situation!
Key objectives
- Be professional but entertaining on the ‘Burns Night’ response, with humour to match what might be (and was) a raucous crowd!
- Be inspiring resulting in more engagements at Burns Nights and similar events.
Workshops
Patricia is frequently asked to meet with different groups to lead sessions at conferences and conventions. In these session Patricia fosters open discussion on mental health, a topic that is often not openly talked about. She includes her experience of losing her eldest son to suicide, another topic that is often avoided. She guides the groups through an exploration of the challenges they face, promoting openness and connection among participants, emphasising the confidentiality and ‘trust’ within the group. She shares her psychologically proven coping techniques showing that by using them they can move forward with courage and resilience, inspired by her book ‘Resilience and Courage: The Key to Endurance’.
Key objectives
The goal of her workshops are to deepen understanding of our shared challenges, to identify a more positive way forward in life (personal, business or career),
